Today marks the 12th birthday of Blockchain.com. From our humble beginnings as a block explorer to the current status as a leading platform for digital assets, let's take a journey through the remarkable history of Blockchain.com.
In the Beginning: Blockchain.info
Blockchain.com's story begins in 2011 when it was established as Blockchain.info, and on October 15th 2011, the website was registered. Co-founded by Ben Reeves, Peter Smith and myself, Nic Cary. The platform started as a simple block explorer, allowing users to explore and navigate the Bitcoin blockchain. It provided a transparent and accessible user interface to search the distributed ledger of the Bitcoin network.
Evolution of Services
Over the years, our team has grown, and we’ve expanded our services beyond being just a block explorer. A few years after our founding, we launched the first Blockchain.com Wallet, offering users a secure and user-friendly platform to store and manage their cryptocurrencies. The wallet's popularity grew, and Blockchain.com became synonymous with trust and reliability in the crypto space.
You can now buy, sell, swap, and store your crypto within the Blockchain.com Account and Blockchain.com DeFi Wallet. We’ve got Rewards Accounts, tapped into DApps and NFTs, and list plenty more assets than Bitcoin.
The Explorer, our Bitcoin blockchain site, has evolved too - with more pricing data, and blockchains than ever before.
