What is CVX?

CVX is the governance and utility token of Convex Finance, a decentralized protocol built on top of Curve Finance. Convex simplifies yield optimization for CRV stakers and Curve liquidity providers, allowing users to maximize their rewards without complex strategies.

CVX enables holders to participate in governance over specific protocol parameters, such as fee distribution and reward allocation. In addition, CVX can be staked to earn a portion of platform fees and additional CRV rewards, aligning incentives between token holders and the growth of the Convex ecosystem.

The history of CVX

Convex Finance launched in 2021 with the goal of optimizing Curve liquidity provision and CRV staking rewards. CVX was introduced as the protocol’s native token to enable community participation in governance and fee-sharing.

Since its launch, CVX has become integral to the Curve and broader DeFi ecosystem, allowing users to efficiently boost CRV rewards while participating in staking and limited governance functions.

Key features of CVX

Governance Participation: CVX holders can vote on protocol parameters like fee distribution and reward allocation, ensuring community input into Convex’s economic operations.

Staking Rewards: Users can stake CVX to earn a share of Convex’s platform fees and CRV-based incentives, promoting long-term engagement.

Optimized DeFi Yield: CVX supports Convex’s core function of enhancing CRV staking and liquidity pool rewards, enabling more efficient yield farming for Curve participants.

Transparent & On-Chain: Built on Ethereum, CVX staking, rewards, and governance votes are executed on-chain, providing transparency and accountability for participants.
